December 8 and 9 have been two very special days in my life because of two reasons.
On the one hand it was the first time for me to experience a classical concert of Tarja. And on the other hand I finally had the
opportunity to meet her and Marcelo in person and this was something I was looking forward for a very long time.
.
My Mom and I set out for Frankfurt already one day before the planned dinner, because we had to drive about 500 km and we
didnīt want to be pressed for time. In view of the chaotic traffic situation in Frankfurt this turned out to be a very wise
decision. Despite of GPS I lost a great deal of my nerves on the streets of Frankfurt during these days.
.
It seemed that the word "left" does not exist for the people living in this city. You only can drive straight ahead or
turn right. But what if you have to go to the left very urgently ?
After some dangerous turn - arounds I eventually managed to reach the hotel.
The next day I tried to calm down my nerves by going for a walk along the river Main and through the Christmas market, but it did not help much.
Even though I was not half as nervous I feared to be in the first place I still had the feeling that a cold hand is squeezing
my stomach.
And then, a few hours later, the much longed moment finally was there. But interestingly, as soon as I faced Tarja all my tension
was totally gone and I was just so happy to see her. She came towards me, we hugged and she said to me: Itīs so nice to finally meet
you. I really was a little bit flabbergasted because actually this was something I wanted to say to her.
.
We had contact via email before because of VoE, but I didnīt expect such a reception and was really happy about it.
Even though I was quite calm I lost my English and even my German (let alone the little bit Finnish I know) from time to
time during the evening
and I really was glad that I had my Mom
with me who never has any problems with communication.
Then we greeted Marcelo, who is a very nice guy, and we talked about VoE and Tarjaīs Website, about travelling and other things.
Concerning Tarja I have to say that she exceeded all my expectations which have been very high anyway. She is such a
lovely and enchanting person. Thereīs really no other way to describe her.
.
At this point I also would like to mention that Tarja said that she likes VoE very much, that she visits the site every
day and that sheīs touched by the way I designed it. This, of course, increases my motivation even more to go on with the site
with at least as much dedication as before. And I also want to thank again all the fans very much who visit and support VoE.
.
It has been a wonderful evening and we had a very nice time together. Among other things we also talked about the concerts
in Savonlinna next July where I also will be present. Tarja also talked with us in German for a little while and this really
good I have to say.
The time flew and in the wink of an eye it was 12.30 a.m. and time to say goodbye. But fortunately, there still was the concert
next day which has been absolutely great. At 6.45 p.m. we were let in by Marcelo through a side entrance before all the other people
were allowed to enter the church. So we got the best places in first row. It was an overwhelming feeling to have clear sight without
any heads and arms in front of us. You really donīt realize that there are so many people around and you have the feeling that the whole
concert is just played for yourself. That really was great. The "stage" also was very nice. There were lots of candles on the steps
to the altar which contributed to a solemn atmosphere. And then Tarja came out in her white dress and just looked gorgeous in it. To
hear Tarja sing with her "real" classical voice - without amplifiers and rock music in the background - was an unforgettable
experience. Her voice really reached straight into my heart.
.
The collection of songs also was very well chosen. The "Ave Maria" is one of my favourites anyway. Her German pronunciation and
her singing were just perfect. Another song which really touched me was "Varpunen jouluaamuna", especially because I have a weakness
for melancholic songs anyway.
The concert was absolutely fantastic and the musicians also played very well. The audience gaves also played very well. The audience gave standing ovations and after the
encore Tarja called all the musicians on stage again and took their hands for the final bow. This was a very nice gesture.
After the concert we were allowed to go to Tarja once more to hug her and to say good bye.
But also all the other fans were not missed out because Tarja came out to them and they got autographs and were allowed to
take pictures.
All in all it these two days were just wonderful and I surely will never forget them. Iīve met a lot of great people and at this
point I would like to send my love to Silke, Michi, Manuela, Manu, Maik, Dagmar and Petra. Iīm really looking forward to the next
concert and I hope that we all will meet again there.
