On Friday April 13, 2007 our historical association (Herzogstadt Burghausen e.V.)
organized a concert of the band Furunkulus. It´s a band from Bavaria who mostly is known in the medieval/historical/LARP scene in Germany.
Furunkulus was supported by Adas, also a band from Southern Germany, who has specialized in Spanish medieval folk.
The name "Adas" also derives from old Spanish and means "faeries". According to their name Adas plays songs with mystical themes around faeries and
the Otherworld and they really are able to put you in a different world with their enchanting melodies. They only have a bit
of a weak chest when it comes to the vocals, but thanks to their music I enjoyed their performance.
Furunkulus, however, - the "masters of the drums" were fantastic as always. To see these guys in their medieval-babaric costumes is an experience
in itself. But as soon as the first drumstick hits you´re lost and your feet get a magical life of their own. You really get the feeling that
the heartbeat of the world is running through you and you can understand why the drum often is called the instrument of the Gods.
Furunkulus also call themselves "Spilleut der Ewigkeit" (gleemen of eternity) and you actually feel connected with it through their music. To make
a long story short: it was an awesome concert. I just always wonder how these guys survive their own permormance. I would die of an heart attack after
just ten minutes if I would be one of them. And after two hours of dancing and jumping without a break my feet were hurting like hell, but it was worth it.
This time the concerts took place in a hall. But it is much nicer when the band plays at one of the numerous historical festivals that take place here
in summer. When the dusk is over the land and camp fires are burning everywhere and Furunkulus starts to play you really feel being
transfered into the Otherworld.
